As
Holden
with
Order
ASOLDEN has spent years operating under the name ATHENS, collaborating with exceptional talent to solve countless workplace issues that arise in the field. As our business expanded, numerous touchpoints emerged with clients distributed globally. This new ecosystem demanded a brand name and design system that could meet these evolving needs.
But this brand transformation was not driven solely by market demands. The name "asolden" comes from combining "as" – meaning mode of being – with "holden," the English name of labor attorney Daegi Hong.
"As I approached middle age, I was suddenly struck by questions about my own existence that I had always taken for granted. My life, my name, my nationality, my appearance – all of it simply given to me without any special cosmic mission or inevitable reason (phenomenological thrownness) – began to feel strange and unfamiliar. The fact that I exist, that you exist, that we are all here, struck me as extraordinarily peculiar and fascinating. With the realization that time is finite, I looked back on life and realized that life itself is not particularly grand or extraordinary. These day-to-day moments we experience – that's what life actually is. This reflection naturally led to a new perspective on the work we do, the people we meet, and the problems we strive to solve."
We hoped that this existential contemplation would be woven into our new brand identity. For this not-at-all simple task, ATHENS partnered with Order Design, founded by Jesse Reed and located in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York. This was not just a rebranding effort – it was a journey toward creating a new identity rooted in fundamental questions about existence itself.

Why
asolden
Immersion
Facts aren't always black and white—they change depending on who's looking at them. ASOLDEN takes a deep dive into every case, immersing ourselves in the details to piece together the real story from start to finish.
Enthusiasm
At ASOLDEN, we don't claim to be the best in the business or brag about our wins. Instead, we stay focused on learning and research, driven by a genuine desire to keep getting better.
Honesty
Other legal representatives often become too busy to respond promptly—sometimes taking days when you need immediate answers. At ASOLDEN, we prioritize quick, honest communication and never sacrifice accuracy for speed.

Publications
Beyond the obvious. Beyond precedent.
We don't do textbook law — we track social change, reframe context, and push legal boundaries through relentless research.
ASOLDEN is one of the few bilingual labor law firms in South Korea, seamlessly providing legal services in both Korean and English. Recently, the firm authored and published an English-language labor law commentary (Orae Publishing, 2022).

Korean Labor Laws on Individual Employment Relations, written by Daegi Hong, published by OREbook in June 2022
Korean Labor Laws on Individual Employment Relations
"In this book, a thorough explanation of Korean labor laws is offered in English. Labor laws are broadly categorized into the Collective Industrial Relations Laws and the Individual Labor Laws. This book covers the individual labor laws. The core issues of the Labor Standard Act are discussed in-depth. Furthermore, some of the significant issues from the Act on the Protection of Fixed-term and Part-time Employees, the Act on the Protection of Temporary Agency Workers, and the Fatal Accidents Punishment Act have been addressed."
